“PsychoSocial” Meetings

At the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, I chair a once monthly hour long session for the Paediatric Multidisciplinary Team.

This is a confidential and supportive space where all staff can come together to think about complex cases, and the challenges and rewards that these bring us. We discuss ethical dilemmas, alongside personal and organisational responses to distressing as well as positive events.

It is a reflective rather than problem-solving space, designed to provide mutual support as well as Continuing Professional Development.

Well functioning clinical teams will prioritise such interventions to foster cohesiveness, prevent burnout and improve team working.
